ZKsync Airdrop Guide – Eligibility & How to Claim
The much anticipated ZKsync airdrop is finally here. In this guide, we’ll explain how to check ZKsync airdrop eligibility and how to claim your tokens if you’re eligible.
The ZK token acts as a network governance token, allowing the community to vote on proposals for the protocol and the token’s role itself. In total, the community will receive 66.7% of the 21 billion token supply. 17.5% of the total supply is earmarked for this bulk airdrop to qualified wallets. The remainder of the community supply will be allocated to ecosystem initiatives and the ZKsync Token Assembly. More on that in a bit. First, let’s explore the airdrop details.

The ZKNation X account announced the token airdrop on June 11, 024, providing a link to the official airdrop page and announcement page. Claims for users went live on June 17, 2024, with nearly half of the eligible wallets claiming tokens in the first two hours of going live. Claims for contributors begin on June 24, 2024.

What is ZKsync?
ZKsync is an Ethereum Layer-2 chain that processes transactions on its own chain and sends finalized transactions to the Ethereum base chain for security. The ZK in ZKsync refers to zero knowledge, meaning the ZKsync chain processes transactions off-chain and then sends a bundled proof to the Layer-1 chain as a single transaction.
Much like other Layer-2 solutions, ZKsync offers faster and less expensive transactions compared to Ethereum Mainnet. However, most other Layer-2 chains use optimistic rollups, a method of passing transactions back to the Mainnet chain that can be reversed if an error is detected.
ZKsync Airdrop Eligibility – Did You Qualify?
The ZKsync airdrop snapshot occurred on March 24, 2024, at 0:00 UTC. This date marked the one-year anniversary of the ZKsync Era mainnet launch. To determine eligibility for the airdrop, ZKsync first looked at wallet activity on ZKsync Lite and ZKsync Era.
Eligibility for most community members hinges on a minimum threshold of activity on ZKsync. Of the 17.5% of supply being airdropped, 89% goes to ZKsync users. The remaining 11% goes to contributors, a group comprised of developers, companies, and communities (such as Farcaster users who received the DEGEN airdrop) and researchers who contributed to the ZKsync ecosystem.
Allocations for ZKsync users followed a point system with seven categories, each worth one point. Early adopters of ZK Lite earned extra points.
- Donated to a Gitcoin round (Lite)
- Transacted in at least three different months prior to Era Mainet’s launch (Lite)
- Interacted with 10 smart contracts (Era)
- Five transactions using a paymaster (Era)
- Trades 10 ERC-20 tokens (Era)
- Hold a Libertus Omnibus NFT (Era)
The amount of assets bridged to ZKsync also affected allocations.
To check your eligibility and allocation, visit the official ZKsync airdrop website and connect your ZKsync-compatible wallet using the address you used to transact on ZKsync. Please be aware that users in specific regions, including the US, may not be eligible.
ZKsync also eliminated some wallet addresses based on allocated tokens. Wallet addresses with fewer than 450 ZK tokens were eliminated, with the tokens recycled into the allocation pool. Similarly, allocations for wallet addresses with more than 100,000 ZK tokens were trimmed. As a result, the minimum allocation for each eligible wallet was 917 ZK tokens.
How to Claim The ZKsync Airdrop
Claiming your ZK tokens should be a quick process. Follow the steps below to get started.
- Use a desktop browser to visit the claim page. Be sure to use the official URL: https://claim.zknation.io/. This page functions as both a ZKsync airdrop checker and zksync airdrop claim page.
- Enter your wallet address or GitHub user name in the provided field. Alternatively, you can connect your wallet using the Connect button. Be sure you connect using ZKsync and choose the wallet address you used for transactions on the network.
- Connect your wallet. Use MetaMask, Rabby, or another ZKsync-compatible crypto wallet to connect to the claim portal.
- Accept the airdrop terms. Read and accept the terms to move on to the next step.
- Delegate your votes. Delegating your votes passes your voting power on to an active delegate on the network. However, delegating does not affect ownership of your ZK tokens. If you’re interested in becoming a delegate, you can register as a delegate. You can also change your delegation at any time.
- Claim your tokens. Once you’ve delegated your tokens, you can complete the claim process by approving the transaction in your wallet. The airdropped tokens will appear in your wallet after.
How Long Do You Have to Claim?
Eligible wallet addresses can be claimed anytime between June 17, 2024, for users (or June 24, 2024, for contributors) and January 3, 2025.
