Internet Computer Price History

What is Internet Computer?

Internet Computer is a Layer-1 blockchain built to facilitate a decentralized internet. Whereas most smart contract blockchains, like Ethereum, only store transaction data on-chain, Internet Computer actually runs software on the blockchain. This means that Internet Computer can host decentralized websites and dApps as well as store data about transactions that take place on the network.

Internet Computer also differs from other blockchains in that it uses what’s known as ‘reverse gas.’ Instead of requiring users to pay gas fees (in $ICP) for using Internet Computer, developers must pay the gas fees for users of their dApps. Gas fees are paid to server providers, who provide the decentralized computing infrastructure that makes up the backbone of Internet Computer.
