Trump Selects Bitcoin-Owning Ohio Sen. JD Vance as Vice Presidential Candidate
As crypto takes the main stage in Donald Trump’s election campaign strategy, the former President has recently picked long-time crypto supporter as his Vice Presidential hopeful. Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, has chosen Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate on Monday. According to Trump’s post on his Truth Social Network, the decision to pick Vance comes “after lengthy deliberation and thought.”
“J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance,” Trump wrote.
Vance, a former tech venture capitalist, has reportedly held more than $100,000 in Bitcoin, per his latest federal financial disclosure.

Vance, who took the stage as Senator in 2022, has introduced and voted in favor of pro-crypto legislation. He recently drafted a bill that would revamp how US regulates digital assets, according to Politico. According to sources close to Vance, he hopes to improve on Republican-led legislation, which the House passed in May.
Additionally, JD Vance has also been a staunch critic of crypto regulatory crackdown, proposed by the SEC chair Gary Gensler. In February, Vance wrote a letter to Gensler, along with GOP Senators, slamming the case against crypto company DEBT Box.
Trump-Vance Winning Ticket Would Greatly Benefit Crypto
With Trumps announcement to nominate Rep. JD Vance as the potential Vice President, several crypto advocates have expressed acceptance.
Castle Island Ventures founder Nic Carter welcome the decision and said that his choice would be “very good on crypto.”
“JD is a great choice, former VC, and very good on crypto,” he wrote on X. “Trump 2.0 is signaling a pro tech, pro Silicon Valley, pro American dynamism outlook.”

Besides, Sam Lyman, Director of Public Policy at Riot Platforms, noted that Trump-Vance candidacy would push-back building an “anti-crypto army” proposed by anti-crypto lawmaker Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
“Senator Warren’s ‘anti-crypto army’ would be no match for a Trump-Vance presidency,” Lyman told Fox Business.
“This is the dream ticket for anyone who believes in self-sovereignty and the freedom to transact.”
Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to speak at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, after surviving an assassination attack on July 13 during the Pennsylvania rally. The conference will run from July 25 to July 27 and he is scheduled to deliver his keynote on the last day, per reports.
