David Schwartz, Ripple’s chief technology officer (CTO) who has been advocating caution against crypto scams, has highlighted a new phishing scam, warning the XRP army to stay away from any legit-looking messages.

He posted in his X (formerly Twitter) account that any messages regarding investigations on copy right issues, is a “fraud.”

“If you receive a DM anything like this, it is fake. The link goes to a phishing site that will collect your login and personal information,” Schwartz wrote.

David Schwartz shared a post from a Georgian user with pseudonym “three-year letterman,” which had a screenshot of a DM message. The message read, “Your account is currently under investigation for copyright violations.” It also had a link to a form asking X users to fill within 24 hours. Failing to it would lead to the account getting suspended, it added.

Though the message did not mention particularly about any crypto tokens, Schwartz shared to create awareness on the scam.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has also been cloned by certain scammers through the use of artificial intelligence software. In one such deepfake video, Garlinghouse urged crypto users to bring their holdings for doubling. However, he confirmed later that it was a fake video.

“I am Not Satoshi”: David Schwartz

His waring comes days after his claims on X that he is “not Satoshi” (the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin).

Posting a selfie from the Consensus 2024 event, David Schwartz wrote, “Finally, absolute proof I am not Satoshi.” His comments come after crypto proponents have pointed at several brilliant personalities including Schwartz that might fit Satoshi’s profile.

Over the years, David Schwartz has made several attempts to reaffirm that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto. However, despite his polite way of convincing his followers that he is not the inventor of Bitcoin, he also succeeded in creating a new army of followers who believe that he is Nakamoto.
