Roger Ver (born in February 1979) is an American-born tech entrepreneur and investor, promoter of cryptocurrency adoption and Bitcoin Cash evangelist. Ver’s activism on the crypto scene earned him the nickname of Bitcoin (or Bitcoin Cash) Jesus.
Ver was born and raised in Silicon Valley, becoming a millionaire by mid-20s based on his work with computer parts. Ver’s political leanings played a role in his early promotion of Bitcoin adoption as he saw the cryptocurrencies as a tool in the promotion of economic freedoms and libertarian ideology. Ver became a citizen of Saint Kitts and Nevis and renounced his US citizenship after moving to Japan.
After Bitcoin Cash was forked from Bitcoin, Ver put much of his public efforts in the promotion of BCH, seeing it as a shield against censorship enforced by the authorities. In late 2018, he announced a plan to launch a cryptocurrency exchange of his own.
