The highway workers’ union of the US state of Wyoming has announced that it is exploring to add Bitcoin to its balance sheet.

“[The] Initiative, potentially becoming the first law enforcement association in the U.S. to hold Bitcoin on its balance sheet.”

“Get Off Zero” campaign focuses on crypto investments, encouraging organizations to allocate a small percentage of their portfolio to Bitcoin.
Established in 1974, the WHPA supports and offers resources to its Troopers, Dispatchers, Port of Entry Officers, and civilian staff. With the “Get Off Zero” initiative, members of the group can learn how the digital asset ecosystem works.
“We are excited to explore Bitcoin as a network and asset, to evaluate ways it can further support our organization and its members,” said Austin Bluemel, Vice President of the WHPA.
Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis Welcomes the Initiative
State Senator Cynthia Lummis, who has been highly vocal in advocating Bitcoin Reserves, has voiced her support towards the initiative.
“The Wyoming Highway Patrol Association’s investment in Bitcoin ensures they will be able to continue keeping our highways safe across the Cowboy State,” she said.
“I am excited they continue to use new technology to support their mission.”
Proof of Workforce founder Dom Bei reported that this “could serve as a precedent” for other US law enforcement associations.
“Bitcoin continues to protect the time and energy of those who protect us,” Bei commented adding that the asset would function as a reliable and stable long-term tool for workers during unpredictable emergency situations.
Proof of Workforce is a non-profit organization that offers free Bitcoin education to workers, labor unions, pension funds, and municipalities.
The organization previously has helped the Santa Monica Firefighters to hold Bitcoin in self-custody. Further, it has worked with other unions globally, in raising Bitcoin awareness and education.
