Sonic Labs announced on Thursday that its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) layer-1 chain now supports Circle’s bridged USDC stablecoin through the Sonic Gateway.
Sonic Partners with Circle to Integrate Bridged USDC
The bridged USDC stablecoin, sourced from Ethereum via the Sonic Gateway, is now active on Sonic’s network.
Sonic stated that this integration reduces liquidity fragmentation and simplifies token-swapping and liquidity provision for users.

The bridged USDC enables developers to create decentralized applications (dApps) with consistent contract addresses, ensuring compatibility even when transitioning to native USDC support in the future.
Bridged USDC is available through the Sonic Gateway from Ethereum, Solana, and Fantom via deBridge.
Other blockchains and decentralized exchanges also offer bridging options.
Sonic Labs Nears Public Launch Following Genesis Milestone
Sonic Labs announced that its public network launch is imminent after completing its Genesis block—the first transaction recorded on its blockchain.
The announcement, made on X on December 2, stated, “Genesis achieved. Block zero. Infrastructure deploying. Public soon.”

Block zero.
Infrastructure deploying.
Public soon.
The blockchain is designed to reduce latency and transaction fees, and it has received support from the Fantom Foundation, a key contributor to Fantom’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
Sonic also completed a “Snapshot” for its airdrop of 200 million “S” tokens on December 2. These tokens can be exchanged for Fantom’s native FTM tokens on a 1:1 basis.
As the platform transitions to its mainnet launch, arcade games that allowed users to earn tokens have been discontinued.
Sonic will operate on a proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism, enabling “S” token holders to participate in staking.
Circle, meanwhile, continues its global expansion, securing MiCA registration in Europe and meeting updated cryptocurrency regulations in Canada.
