Bitcoin (BTC) has punched through the $83,000 mark, climbing over 5% this week as growing fears of stagflation push investors toward assets seen as immune to monetary erosion.
The latest spike comes in the wake of President Trump’s 145% tariff hike on Chinese imports—an aggressive policy shift that’s reigniting concerns over supply chain disruptions, rising consumer prices, and faltering growth.
Adding to the unease, the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index tumbled to 54.0 in April, down from 57.0 the month prior—its lowest reading in nearly six months.
