Dusk Network Puts Community at the Forefront of New Testnet Launch

The current era of blockchain development is truly an exciting one. After the foundation of growth had been laid out meticulously over the last decade, blockchain projects are able to progress with more public acceptance and support than before. Despite this, many of them still hold on to some of the core values of blockchain, one of which is community. 

In this vein, the Dusk Network has announced its recent testnet launch that is not only technologically innovative but community-centric as well. 

Into the Testnet

As per the company’s official announcement, the Dusk Network testnet was launched on March 22, 2022, and was dubbed ‘Daybreak’. The testnet incorporated the elements that Dusk Network is known for, including zero-knowledge cryptography, permissionlessness, and large-scale decentralization. 

The testnet launch also tapped heavily into the existing Dusk Network community. The management of Dusk has reiterated the importance of expert contributions to making the launch a success and has thus opened it up to its community. 

There are two distinct roles that users can sign up for – node provisioner or using the block explorer. For those who sign up to be provisioners, their role will be to grow and decentralize the network. The Dusk Network has also explained that those with expertise and experience will be onboarded first as node provisioners and those with less experience will then follow. 

For those who opt to learn about the network using the block explorer, they will have access to vital network information such as average block time, the total transactions made, the number of active provisioners, and so on. While this is a vital role, it will not interfere with Dusk Network’s commitment to privacy. 

As such, information such as the identity of those involved in transactions will be kept hidden even from the block explorer. A waitlist has been released by the company for those who are interested in either role and want to sign up. 

The Dawn of Privacy 

At its core, the Dusk Network’s main focus is on creating a platform that allows financial companies to reap the benefits of blockchain while still preserving their privacy and leveraging smart contracts. 

Even as the network expands, it is prioritizing carrying along its community and keeping it at the forefront of its operations. More announcements will be made ahead of the testnet launch.
