Ủy ban Chứng khoán và Đầu tư Úc (ASIC) vừa chính thức buộc tội Grant Colthup, cựu CEO của nền tảng tiền điện tử Mine Digital, với hành vi gian lận tài chính. Vụ việc gây chấn động này liên quan đến giao dịch trị giá 2,2 triệu AUD (tương đương 1,46 triệu USD) vào tháng 7\/2022.<\/p>

Theo thông báo của ASIC vào hôm 22-10<\/a>, Colthup đã bị cáo buộc lừa đảo tại tòa án Magistrates ở Ipswich. Cáo buộc này xuất phát từ việc một khách hàng của Mine Digital đã thanh toán số tiền 2,2 triệu AUD để mua Bitcoin nhưng không được nhận lại bất kỳ khoản tiền điện tử<\/a> nào. Khoản tiền này chuyển cho công ty ACCE Australia Pty, đơn vị điều hành sàn giao dịch Mine Digital, từ tháng 5\/2019 đến tháng 9\/2022. Điều đáng chú ý là Colthup là giám đốc duy nhất của ACCE Australia trong suốt thời gian này.<\/p>

ASIC khẳng định rằng, Colthup đã sử dụng số tiền này để thanh toán các khoản nợ của ACCE hoặc mua tiền điện tử cho những người khác thay vì thực hiện giao dịch cho khách hàng. Điều này không chỉ làm mất lòng tin của khách hàng mà còn trái với cam kết của một nền tảng giao dịch uy tín.<\/p>

Vụ kiện đã được tòa án Ipswich tạm hoãn đến ngày 16\/12\/2024 nhằm thu thập thêm bằng chứng và xử lý hồ sơ pháp lý. Sự việc này là lời cảnh tỉnh đối với cộng đồng tiền điện tử về các rủi ro tiềm ẩn, đồng thời nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của việc quản lý chặt chẽ các sàn giao dịch nhằm bảo vệ quyền lợi của nhà đầu tư trong một thị trường đầy biến động.<\/p>

Cáo buộc của ASIC liên quan đến các giao dịch hồi tháng 7\/2022<\/h2><\/span>

Theo thông báo của ASIC, sàn giao dịch tiền điện tử Mine Digital, có trụ sở tại Queensland, đã tuyên bố phá sản và bị chuyển giao cho người thanh lý tài sản Bradley Tonks, thuộc công ty PKF, vào ngày 1\/12\/2022. Mine Digital đã tự nguyện tuyên bố phá sản để tiến hành thanh lý tài sản và trả tiền cho các chủ nợ.<\/p>

Trước đó, báo cáo của Australian Financial Review cho biết, Tonks đã lên kế hoạch khởi kiện Grant Colthup, cựu CEO của Mine Digital, để yêu cầu bồi thường cho các chủ nợ vì những tổn thất mà họ phải gánh chịu. Trong quá trình điều tra ban đầu vào năm 2022, Tonks đã gửi thư cho các chủ nợ, mô tả rằng các khoản đầu tư tiền điện tử của khách hàng “dường như không được ghi nhận trên bảng cân đối kế toán”. Điều này đã khiến nhiều người lo ngại về tính minh bạch trong hoạt động quản lý tài chính của công ty.<\/p>

Hơn nữa, Tonks còn phát hiện ra, trước khi công ty rơi vào tình trạng bị quản lý, một lượng lớn tài sản kỹ thuật số có thể đã được chuyển từ tài khoản công ty tới các tài khoản ẩn danh khác. Đây là một trong những lý do chính dẫn đến việc công ty không thể đáp ứng các nghĩa vụ tài chính với chủ nợ.<\/p>

Khi Mine Digital ra mắt vào năm 2019, Colthup đã hứa hẹn sẽ “thiết lập một tiêu chuẩn mới trong thị trường tiền điện tử tại Australia”.
