Unprecedented: Rules without Rulers

The word of the season is unprecedented. Unprecedented pandemic, unprecedented job losses, unprecedented incompetence. But what does it mean for something to be unprecedented?

In this talk, given on May 19th, 2020, for the ANON Summit, Bitcoin educator and entrepreneur Andreas M. Antonopoulos claims that our institutions of democratic governance have started to fail, and they are doing so not because they have been overtaken by a "cabal of super-intelligent elitists" who plot to destroy our world. In his view, our institutions are failing because the mechanisms of democratic governance do not scale.

As a result, this period marks the beginning of the new era of human-centered globalization, powered by non-institutionalized institutions of trust and powerful networks that give us rules without rulers.
