The Future of Decentralized Social Media

The flaws of centralized social media platforms have gained mainstream attention recently, when Twitter was compromised, allowing an attacker to gain control of many of the largest accounts.

But even before last week, issues like deplatforming and data protection requirements have created an opportunity for decentralized social networks to gain ground.

In this virtual panel, organized by HackFS, angel investor and serial entrepreneur Balaji Srinivasan, co-founder of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin, and founder of Protocol Labs and IPFS protocol Juan Benet discuss the future of decentralized social media. The panel is moderated by Kartik Talwar, a venture capitalist at A.Capital Ventures.

So, what role can decentralized protocols play in the future of social networks?

The discussion was recorded on July 22, 2020.
