Philosophy of Ethereum Governance

"In a nutshell, I like to describe Ethereum as an operating system for building better human institutions," Ethereum core developer Lane Rettig said in a presentation at the Penn Blockchain Conference in April 2019. According to him, blockchain gives us a powerful tool to build better institutions. "We want to use tools like blockchain, Ethereum to govern those systems, but the reality of program right now actually is that if we don't figure out how to govern our blockchain systems first, <...> we can't build things on it because those things really require a very stable base platform," Rettig stressed.
