Living on Bitcoin with Didi Taihuttu
In this interview, the host of What Bitcoin Did and Defiance podcasts, Peter McCormack, interviews Didi Taihuttu, a family head known for his decision to sell everything and buy Bitcoin. They discuss how the family coped during the bear market and the pros and cons of living a nomad lifestyle.
In early 2017, with the Bitcoin price at around USD 1,200, Didi Taihuttu, his wife, and three kids sold their house, cars, and everything they owned and invested the proceeds in Bitcoin. They planned to travel the world and live a nomadic lifestyle.
In 2017, following their decision, the Bitcoin price went to USD 20,000 before crashing back down to around USD 3,200. With this volatility, the family had to adjust their lifestyle. However, with Bitcoin hitting new all-time highs of USD 42,000 last week, their conviction has paid off.
Now, four years later, the family is still traveling the world and living off Bitcoin.
“The moment you jump, you will never change back again. We had our doubts at the beginning as well, but we will never change back again.” - Didi Taihuttu
