Bitcoin, Privacy, and Freedom at Times of Social Unrest

In this episode of Swan Signal Live hosted by Brady Swenson and Yan Pritzker, Alex Gladstein, the Chief Strategy Officer at The Human Rights Foundation, and Matt Odell, co-host of Rabbit Hole Recap on the Tales from the Crypt podcast talk about the social unrest in the United States and all over the world, Bitcoin as a tool for protest, the rise of authoritarianism, growing importance of privacy, and how it can be used as a tool for social change.

“Bitcoin is a tool that people can use to achieve change,” claims Alex Gladstein, adding that "...the open-source, permissionless, borderless nature of Bitcoin will create problems for even the most intense police states around the world."

“If the government, which I expect to, starts flexing their domestic surveillance capabilities people are going to have their eyes wide opened,” added Matt Odell, who is concerned about the dangers of government-mandated mass surveillance.

The podcast was recorded on June 2, 2020.
