ABD’nin Washington eyaletindeki bir yargıç, Ilya Lichtenstein’ın kefaletle serbest bırakmayı reddederken, eşi Heather Morgan’ı kefaletle serbest bıraktı.<\/p>

İkili daha önce 2016 yılında gerçekleştirilen büyük kripto borsası Bitfinex<\/strong> hack’inden çalınan 4.5 milyar dolar değerindeki bitcoin (BTC)<\/a>‘i aklamak için bir komplo kurduğu iddiasıyla New Yorklu bir yargıç tarafından kefaletle serbest bırakılmıştı.<\/p>

Lichtenstein (34) ve Morgan (31), yetkililerin Lichtenstein tarafından kontrol edilen ve Bitfinex’ten çalınan 94.000 BTC’nin (4.1 milyar dolar) özel anahtarlarını içeren bir çevrimiçi hesaptaki dosyalara erişim sağlamasının ardından geçen hafta New York’ta federal kolluk kuvvetleri tarafından tutuklandı.<\/p>

Yargıç, Morgan için 3 milyon dolar ve Lichtenstein için 5 milyon dolar kefalet belirledi.<\/p>

Bununla birlikte ABD Bölge Yargıcı Beryl Howell şimdi Lichtenstein’a kefalet verilmesi kararını bozdu ve Morgan’ın yargılanmak üzere serbest kalmasına izin veren bir kararı onayladı.<\/p>

Bloomberg’in aktardığı<\/a> üzere Yargıç Howell, her ikisinin de kaçma motivasyonunun katlanarak arttığını ve kanıtların Lichtenstein’in, kocası tarafından kontrol edildiği için çalınan kripto paraya erişimi olmadığı iddia edilen Morgan’dan daha fazla imkana sahip olduğunu gösterdiğini” söyledi.<\/p>

Adalet Bakanlığı (DOJ), geçen hafta yaptığı açıklamada<\/a> Bitfinex’in hackerlarının 2016 yılında borsanın sistemlerinin güvenliğini kırdıktan sonra Lichtenstein tarafından kontrol edilen bir diijital cüzdana 119.754 BTC gönderdiklerini söyledi.<\/p>

DOJ, “Son beş yılda çalınan Bitcoin’lerin yaklaşık 25.000’i, çalınan fonların bir kısmının Lichtenstein ve Morgan tarafından kontrol edilen finansal hesaplara yatırılmasıyla sonuçlanan karmaşık bir kara para aklama süreciyle Lichtenstein’ın cüzdanından aktarıldı” dedi.<\/p>

DOJ’a göre çift, 25 yıl hapis cezasıyla karşı karşoya ve para aklamak için ABD’ye komplo kurmakla suçlanıyor.<\/p>

Bildirildiği üzere kendisini “Wall Street’in Timsahı” olarak da adlandıran Morgan, bir Forbes and Inc katılımcısı ve kocası Lichtenstein bir Web 3 geliştiricisi olduğunu iddia ediyor.<\/p>
