Afgelopen december zei hij iets vergelijkbaars tegen CNBC (de volgende dag was de aandelenkoers 11% hoger): <i>&quot;Mijn doel is [binnen] 60 tot 90 dagen dat we weglopen van dit [detailhandelbedrijf]&quot;,<\/i> wat zou betekenen dat het oorspronkelijke plan was om te verkopen tegen februari 2018. In een verklaring aan FOX Business zei hij: <i>\u201cWhile it is possible that I could \u2018wrap up a deal by February,\u2019 I believe that the following is a more precise and accurate statement of my beliefs and intentions. I believe that the right thing to do for shareholders is to separate the value of the retail and blockchain companies (particularly <b>tZERO<\/b>), and I believe I can do that through a tax free spin off of tZERO in 13 months (which is to say, December, 2019) at the outside.\u201d <\/i><\/p><p>tZERO is een blockchaindochteronderneming van Overstock die in augustus 2015 werd onthuld en nog steeds niet commercieel wordt gebruikt. Het lijkt echter volgens Byrne geld te slikken. <i>\u201cI don\u2019t care whether tZero is losing USD 2 million a month,\u201d<\/i> zei hij. <i>\u201cWe think we\u2019ve got cold fusion on the blockchain side.\u201d<\/i><\/p><p>Het originele WSJ-artikel is geschreven door journalist Paul Vigna, en journalist Gary Weiss wees hem er snel op dat dit oud nieuws is.<\/p><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">True, but I wonder if Byrne may have exposure over his clearly false comment re sale of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24OSTK&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$OSTK<\/a> e-business. He pulled it back because it was inaccurate but not before the stock climbed 23%! Over sheer bullshit.
