Thailand’s regulerende Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) heeft gewaarschuwd voor een nieuwe cryptocurrency-uitwisseling, ondersteund door een ‘grote Zuid-Koreaanse firma’, dat mogelijk in strijd is met de onlangs ge\u00efntroduceerde digitale activa wetgeving van het land.<\/p>

Volgens de Thaise nieuwsuitzending Lokwannee heeft de SEC verklaard dat Q Exchange<\/b> openlijk reclame heeft gemaakt voor zijn diensten ondanks het feit dat het nog geen exploitatievergunning van de toezichthouder heeft verkregen – en dus mogelijk in conflict komt met de Koninklijke Decreet over Digital Asset-bedrijven, eerder dit jaar ge\u00efntroduceerd.<\/p>

De SEC gaf ook een waarschuwing aan beleggers in cryptocurrency in het land: \u201cWe would like to inform the public that Q Exchange is not a licensed digital business operator. Investors should exercise caution when dealing [\u2026] with [Q Exchange], as [investors\u2019] actions may not be lawfully protected by the SEC." <\/i><\/p>

Q Exchange is in september dit jaar in Thailand geopend. Lokwannee zegt dat het bedrijf een joint-venture is met een ‘grote Zuid-Koreaanse firma’ en hoopt ‘tegen het einde van dit jaar’ 30 kantoren te openen, met de bedoeling dat aantal uit te breiden naar 70 kantoren.<\/p>

Volgens de bepalingen van het decreet heeft de SEC regelgevende bevoegdheid over uitwisselingen van cryptocurrency, die wettelijk verboden zijn om hun diensten te adverteren tenzij ze een licentie hebben verkregen. De SEC gaf vergunningen aan een eerste zeven uitwisselingen in augustus van dit jaar, met tal van bedrijven die nog steeds op de SEC wachten om te beslissen over hun aanvragen.<\/p>

De SEC regelt ook het initi\u00eble muntenaanbod (ICO’s), en per de Bangkok Post heeft tot nu toe negen ICO-emittenten toestemming gegeven om door te gaan met tokenverkopen.<\/p>

De toezichthouder adviseerde beleggers in het land ook om bij de SEC informatie in te winnen over de juridische status van beurzen voordat ze met onbekende platforms te maken kregen.<\/p>

Ondertussen ondernam ook een andere Securities and Exchange Commission, dit keer in de VS, actie tegen een uitwisseling. De actie tegen de gedecentraliseerde crypto-uitwisseling EtherDelta<\/b> is een belangrijke actie van de SEC, aangezien dit de eerste handhavingsactie ooit is tegen een centrale die geacht wordt illegaal te werken.
