De laatste reeks sancties van de Verenigde Staten is eerder deze week van kracht geworden, maar de plaatsvervangend voorzitter van de Russische parlementaire commissie voor economisch beleid, innovatieontwikkeling en ondernemerschap, Vladimir Gutenev, zegt dat zijn land wellicht zal reageren door Russische en internationale wapenhandelaars toe te staan \u200b\u200b- evenals andere leveranciers – om betalingen in cryptocurrencies te accepteren.<\/p>

Gutenev zegt volgens het Russische Pravda, \u201cI think that Russia now has to draw its own \u2018red lines.\u2019 It’s time to consider actions that will not only stave off the effect of sanctions, but also counter the damage incurred. I\u2019m sure other countries like China and India would be interested, too. In a boxing match, it\u2019s hard to fight properly if the rules are being broken and the referee does nothing to stop that.\u201d<\/i> <\/p>

De suggestie van Gutenev is om onder andere de waarde van cryptocurrencies vast te pinnen op de prijs van goud bij het maken van een transactie.<\/p>

De ontwikkeling komt dagen nadat het nieuwsagentschap Izvestia beweerde dat het toegang had gekregen tot offici\u00eble documenten van het Russische ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken, wat de oprichting suggereert van een wet die vereist dat alle cryptocurrency-transacties worden geregistreerd bij financi\u00eble toezichthouders. De documenten suggereerden dat daders kunnen worden onderworpen aan strafrechtelijke vervolging of zelfs gevangenisstraf.<\/p>

In dezelfde publicatie wordt later de plaatsvervangend hoofd van het ministerie van Economische Ontwikkeling, Savva Shipov, aangehaald dat er momenteel geen wetgeving bestaat die cryptocurrency-transacties kan reguleren, maar dat de overheid personen met tokens kan vervolgen om illegale wapen- of drugsdeals te financieren.<\/p>
