PayPal<\/b> CFO John Rainey vertelde CNBC dat ze niet veel belangstelling zien voor cryptocurrencies vanwege de volatiliteit die de levensvatbaarheid van de bedrijven van hun verkopers bedreigt. Hij heeft echter niet uitgesloten dat de betalingsgigant crypto in de toekomst zal ondersteunen.<\/p>

Rainey zegt in zijn interview: \u201cRight now, we don’t see a lot of interest from our merchants. But if it’s something that stabilizes in the future and is a better currency, then we’ll certainly support that.\u201d<\/i><\/p>

De CFO vertelt verder: "If you’re a merchant and you have, let’s say, a 10% margin on a product that you sell and you accept Bitcoin, for example, and the very next day it moves 15%, you’re now underwater on that transaction… You could have something that appeals to consumers, but if merchants don’t accept it, it’s of little value".<\/i><\/p>

Ondertussen groeit Square Cash<\/b>, de mobiele betaalapp, die eind 2017 begon met het ondersteunen van bitcoin, sneller dan PayPal’s Venmo<\/b> mobiele betaaldienst. Dat meldt Nomura Instinet<\/b>, een dochteronderneming van de Japanse financi\u00eble reus Nomura <\/b>. Dan Dolev, een analist bij Nomura Instinet, beweert dat met ongeveer 28 miljoen cumulatieve downloads, het aantal Square Cash-downloads slechts 1 miljoen lager is dan het niveau van Venmo.<\/p>

De applicatie is ontwikkeld door Square, een bedrijf onder leiding van Jack Dorsey, CEO van een sociaal netwerk Twitter<\/b>.
