Het Venezolaanse ministerie van Transport heeft aangekondigd dat scheepsbedrijven die de havendiensten van het land gebruiken, betalingen moeten doen in Petro, de door het land uitgegeven cryptocurrency, of euro’s.<\/p>

Analytics-bedrijf S & P Global Platts meldt dat een offici\u00eble aankondiging van het Venezolaanse ministerie van vervoer stelt: \u201cRates [shipping fees] must be paid to the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) in Euros, or the equivalent in the multi-currency system adopted by Venezuela (the Petro).\u201d<\/i><\/p>

Diensten omvatten loodsen, bewaring, slepen, inspectie en opnieuw plaatsen. Veel van deze diensten zijn verplicht voor internationaal geregistreerde commerci\u00eble schepen die Venezolaanse havens gebruiken.<\/p>

Eerder dit jaar heeft INEA alle Venezolaanse scheepvaartmaatschappijen opgedragen soortgelijke heffingen te betalen bij buitenlandse havens die de Petro gebruiken.<\/p>

Amerikaanse advocaten hebben ondertussen gewaarschuwd alle buitenlandse scheepvaartbedrijven die handel drijven met Venezuela "voorzichtig moeten zijn", na een Amerikaans verbod op de Petro uitgegeven door president Trump eerder dit jaar.<\/p>

Freehill Hogan & Mahar zei: \u201cShip owners should be certain that any remittances made through the American financial system in connection with their Venezuelan trade are not being used to purchase Petros. United States banks will scrutinize all financial transactions related to Venezuela with great care, particularly those involving shipping.\u201d<\/i><\/p>
