“As an asset class, you’re not producing anything and so you shouldn’t expect it to go up. It’s kind of a pure ‘greater fool theory’ type of investment,”<\/i> vertelt hij<\/p>

Hij had blijkbaar al enkele jaren vasthouden aan Bitcoin, omdat hij een bepaald bedrag had gekregen voor zijn verjaardag, maar dat hij het had verkocht. Hij legt uit: “Bitcoin and ICOs [initial coin offerings], I believe completely [they’re some] of the crazier, speculative things.”<\/i><\/p>

Natuurlijk is hij niet ver verwijderd van de meeste negatieve meningen over Bitcoin, en op dezelfde manier gelooft hij in blockchain als een technologie en kan hij zien hoe het kan worden geïmplementeerd.<\/p>

Gates zit bij het bestuur van Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway<\/b> en sprak vanuit Omaha, Nebraska, waar het conglomeraat zijn jaarlijkse aandeelhoudersvergadering hield tijdens het weekend. Interessant genoeg was het pas onlangs dat Buffett Bitcoin ‘rattengif’ noemde, terwijl liefhebbers van cryptocurrency op de social media-website Reddit bijeenkwamen om het idee op te wekken dat zijn mening waarschijnlijk uit angst voortkomt, vanwege het grootste deel van zijn fortuin dat uit meer traditionele locaties komt.<\/p>
