De top vijf landen naar aantal exchanges zijn het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Hongkong, de VS, Singapore en Turkije, terwijl Malta, Belize, de Seychellen, de VS en Zuid-Korea de leidende positie innemen, meldde Business Insider. Het Verenigd Koninkrijk met het grootste aantal exchanges vertegenwoordigt echter slechts 1% van de wereldwijde handelsvolumes, merkt Morgan Stanley op.<\/p>

Volgens de bank stroomt het merendeel van de volumes via Malta, dankzij de recente aankondiging van Binance<\/b> dat ze daar uitbreiden en zelfs zijn uitgenodigd door de overheidsfunctionarissen van het eiland om hun mening te geven over nieuwe, crypto-vriendelijke regelgeving.<\/p>

Morgan Stanley-analist Sheena Shah en haar team hebben vorige week in een notitie geschreven aan klanten: \u201cThe largest exchange called Binance announced intentions to set up headquarters there, so if we take that company out, Malta would be much further down the list.\u201d<\/i> Binance heeft echter nog niet aangekondigd of het al naar Malta is verhuisd.<\/p>

Hoewel Malta en Belize per handelsvolume worden vermeld onder leiders, zijn ze slechts 22 en 24 op de lijst qua aantal geregistreerde bedrijven – een verschil dat gemakkelijk kan worden verklaard door het feit dat Binance naar Malta verhuist en OKEx<\/b> officieel is geregistreerd in Belize. In april kondigde OKEx ook aan dat ze zullen uitbreiden naar Malta.<\/p>

Shah en haar team voegde daar aan toe: \u201cRegulatory certainty [in countries] is part of the attractiveness for the companies so they can plan for the future as they know what to expect. Low taxes are a benefit.\u201d<\/i><\/p>
