De Filipijnse overheid zal toestaan \u200b\u200bdat 10 blockchain- en cryptocurrency-bedrijven actief zijn in de economische zone van Cagayan om voordeel te halen uit belastingvoordelen bij het genereren van werkgelegenheid, meldde Reuters.<\/p>

Deze bedrijven zullen de eerste cryptobedrijven zijn die op de Filippijnen actief zijn nadat in februari de Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA), een staatsbedrijf, een fintech-hub heeft opgezet met het doel om een Aziatische "Silicon Valley" te cre\u00ebren. Buurlanden zouden dergelijke entiteiten daarentegen niet hebben toegestaan.<\/p>

Raul Lambino, baas van de CEZA, vetelde Reuters, \u201cWe are about to licence 10 platforms for cryptocurrency exchange. They are Japanese, Hong Kong, Malaysians, Koreans. They can go into cryptocurrency mining, initial coin offerings, or they can go into exchange,\u201d<\/i> eraan toevoegend dat ze moeten afzien van het uitwisselen van fiat naar crypto en vice versa om te voorkomen dat ze inbreuk maken op de Filippijnse regelgeving; deze uitwisselingen moeten offshore worden gedaan.<\/p>

CEZA zal van de bedrijven eisen dat ze over een periode van twee jaar minstens USD 1 miljoen investeren en een licentiefee van maximaal USD 100.000 betalen. Lambino voegde eraan toe dat CEZA ook op zoek is naar het bouwen van een blockchain en fintech universiteit om geschoolde werknemers te voorzien voor de nieuwe bedrijven.<\/p>

De Filipijnse centrale bank, die de virtuele valutahandel in het land reguleert, heeft geen goedkeuring gegeven voor het gebruik van cryptocurrency, omdat deze openstaat voor misbruik.
