Betalen in crypto heeft nu een ‘premie’ van 50%, zo lijkt het in ieder geval. Hedge fund manager Claudio Guazzoni de Zanett heeft besloten om zijn gigantische huis van 1.150 m\u00b2 met zeven slaapkamers en 14 badkamers in New York voor een miezerige 30 miljoen dollar te verkopen. Hij zal ook crypto accepteren, zegt de advertentie – maar dan is het het equivalent van $45 miljoen waard. <\/p>

Naast BTC, zal hij ook Ethereum en Ripple accepteren. Deze toename is om de volatiliteit in de cryptoprijs te compenseren, zei hij tegen Wall Street Journal: “I’m a true believer in these networks, but it’s very volatile. They could be down 60% in two weeks.”<\/i> En hij lijkt te geloven: volgens zijn LinkedIn-profiel heeft hij Zanett Cryptocurrency Group opgericht in 2016 en lijkt hij sinds minstens 2015 te investeren in cryptocurrencies en blockchain.<\/p>

Het 22 meter brede, marmeren en kalkstenen huis aan de East 76th Street in de buurt van Fifth Avenue heeft sinds 1994 dienst gedaan als herenfamilie van de heer Zanett. Het huis dateert uit 1904 en heeft een originele gewelf in de kelder dat zich uitstrekt onder de straat. “Fabelachtig gelegen”<\/i>, zoals de advertentie zegt, op een blok van de Gold Coast van de Upper East Side tussen Fifth en Madison Avenue, maar dan blijft de vraag: is het echt 45 miljoen dollar waard in BTC?<\/p>

Interessant genoeg is dit dezelfde man die slechts een jaar geleden met een bedrag van $8.000 aan oproepen voor het adverteren van ditzelfde huis als een kortetermijnverhuur voor ophef zorgde, volgens New York Post. Staatswetten verbieden zelfs om kortetermijnverhuur in gebouwen met meerdere units minder dan 30 dagen te adverteren, tenzij de eigenaar ook in de gehuurde unit woont.<\/p>
