New crypto card game Calvaria is attracting huge investment in its presale and has now raised almost $500,000 in just a few days since going live.

The project has a unique advantage over other play-to-earn (P2E) gaming projects because it will release two versions of its main game – P2E and free-to-play (F2P) – in a bid to finally attract casual and traditional gamers to the blockchain.

Calvaria Finds Solution for Blockchain Gaming

Despite games such as The Sandbox and Decentraland boasting massive potential and having market caps of well over $1 billion each, the two games – as well as many others in the space – have struggled to attract traditional gamers.

P2E games were supposed to be ‘bear-proof’, with the hypothesis that those coins would lose less value in a bear market as players continued to use their ecosystems.

Unfortunately, that has not proven to be the case, with most games struggling to attract regular players.

In fact, Decentraland and The Sandbox have been labeled “empty Metaverses”, with the two games attracting less than 20,000 combined players in the past 30 days.

The disparity to the most popular Web2 games is huge, with the likes of Fortnite and Roblox attracting tens of millions of players every day.

Calvaria believes the issue is two-fold and has come up with a solution to fix both.

The first problem is that with most blockchain games, players need to buy expensive NFTs or tokens to even access and try the game in the first place, which can be prohibitive for many.

The second issue is that lots of players can be intimidated because of a lack of technical knowledge on how crypto works, such as needing to set up a wallet to play.

Calvaria will address both issues head-on in their F2P version of the flagship game Duels of Eternity, a card-battle strategy game set in the afterlife.

In the free version of the game, Calvaria will show players a visible tracker of how much they would have earned had they been playing the game.

They will also add gamified educational quests to teach players about blockchain technology and reward them.

Calvaria believes these two features – as well as the game itself – will entice players into their P2E ecosystem.

What is Calvaria: Duels of Eternity?

The main Duels of Eternity game is a card-battle strategy that will see players align with one of three warring factions, stack their decks and do battle and looks set to be one of the best crypto games around.

Each faction has its own traits and strengths and players will need to strategically stack their decks, make use of power-ups and use certain cards and optimal times to beat their opponents.

The game not only has a player vs. player mode but also has a single-player campaign where players can earn unique cards and boosters to use in the other mode.

The game is in 3D, and the P2E version will feature an in-game store where players can purchase cards, resources, and assets – all are fully owned and tradeable in the store on the free market outside of the game.
