Oman Medical Training Center in Blockchain Deal with Gov’t Provider

A major medical training center in Oman has struck a deal with a newly established government blockchain services provider to enable “electronic transactions” powered by blockchain technology.

Per newspaper the Muscat Daily, Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) sealed an agreement with the provider,Blockchain Solutions & Services (BSS), over the weekend.

The BSS earlier this month signed a deal with the country’s leading banking association, and was formed as part of the government’s efforts to modernize the operations of its public sector companies. The entity’s CEO stated, “We are working with multiple government entities to establish infrastructure and provide proper regulations.”

The newspaper quotes Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, the CEO of the OMSB, as saying, “The agreement is part of the OMSB board’s plans for digital transformation and the use of blockchain technologies in the services it provides, in order to boost its vision of upgrading healthcare and use the latest technologies in its e-transformation.”

Muscat has this month hosted the country’s first major blockchain forum. Also this month, the country’s BankDhofar bank joined RippleNet, Ripple’s global enterprise blockchain network.
