\n한국 검찰이 테크 대기업 카카오의 전 CEO의 가상화폐 횡령 및 배임 의혹에 관한 본격 수사를 시작했다.<\/p>

조선일보 보도<\/a>에 의하면 사건은 서울남부지검 가상자산범죄합동수사단에서 맡았다.<\/p>

검찰측은 카카오 전 CEO이자 창업자인 김범수를 비롯한 카카오 임원을 조사할 계획이다.<\/p>

김씨를 비롯한 카카오 계열사 임원들은 횡령과 배임 혐의로 고발당했다. 게다가 자본시장법상 사기적 부정거래 혐의도 받고 있다.<\/p>

시민단체 경제민주주의21는 지난달 김씨에 대한 고소장을 제출했다.

단체는 카카오 산하 크러스트(클레이튼) 생태계와 카카오의 블록체인 자회사 그라운드X와 관련한 “주요 관계자”가 범죄를 저질렀다고 주장했다. 경제민주주의21 대표 김경율은 의혹에 관한 진술을 위해 검찰에 소환되었다.<\/p>

카카오는 한국 최대 테크 기업 중 하나로, 국내 스마트폰 사용자의 90% 이상이 사용하는 카카오톡을 개발했다.<\/p>

카카오는 또한 가상화폐 거래소가 파트너십을 맺은 네오뱅킹 솔루션 카카오뱅크도 운영한다.<\/p>

회사는 해외 자회사를 통해 KLAY 토큰을 출시했으며 2020년에는 인기 가상화폐 지갑도 출시했다.<\/p>

카카오는 ‘유니콘 기업’ 가상화폐 거래소 업비트에 투자한 최초의 후원사 중 하나로, 업비트의 임원 중 다수가 전 카카오 직원 출신이다.<\/p>

경제민주주의21은 “카카오 내부자 몇 명이” KLAY 거래를 통해 “불법 수익”을 창출했다고 주장한다.<\/p>

시민단체에 의하면 카카오 내부자들은 투자자에 토큰을 판매한 후 “해당 자금을 관련 사업에 쓰지 않고 횡령”했다.\n<\/p>

\n경제민주주의21은 카카오 임원들이 KLAY를 주요 암호화폐 거래소에 상장하기 전에 진행된 비공개 사전 판매에서 토큰을 횡령했다고 주장한다.<\/p>

그 과정에서 김범수를 비롯한 카카오 임원들이 최대 3000억 원 상당의 투자금을 빼돌렸다고 주장한 것이다.<\/p>

또한 일부 관계자는 내부자 거래에 참여하기도 했으며 클레이튼 관리자들은 가상 자산을 빼돌렸다고 주장한다.<\/p>

경제민주주의21의 주장에 의하면 이와 같은 행각은 클레이튼이 동아시아 최대 블록체인 회사로 성장할 것으로 전망되었을 때 일어났다.<\/p>

클레이튼은 LG 등 국내 굵직한 대기업들과 제휴했다.<\/p>

카카오 대변인은 혐의에 관해 내부적으로 조사할 시간을 달라고 요청하면서도 해당 주장이 부정확하다고 말했다.<\/p>
