L’Office of Foreign Assets Control<\/strong> (OFAC) du département américain du Trésor a imposé une amende d’environ 24 millions de dollars à l’exchange crypto Bittrex, qui a également dû signer un accord de 29 millions de dollars avec le Financial Crimes Enforcement Network<\/strong> (FinCEN). Les amendes sont liées aux violations de la part de Bittrex de la réglementation anti-blanchiment et des sanctions concernant les résidents de certains pays et territoires.<\/p>

\u00ab\u00a0En raison de déficiences liées aux procédures de conformité aux sanctions de Bittrex, Bittrex n’a pas réussi à empêcher les personnes apparemment situées dans la région de Crimée en Ukraine, à Cuba, en Iran, au Soudan et en Syrie d’utiliser sa plateforme pour effectuer des transactions liées aux monnaies virtuelles d’une valeur approximative de 263 451 600,13 dollars entre mars 2014 et décembre 2017\u00a0\u00bb, a déclaré le ministère dans un communiqué.<\/p><\/blockquote>

Le ministère a déclaré que, sur la base des adresses IP recueillies auprès de ses clients, Bittrex, qui est basé au Liechtenstein et aux Bermudes, avait des raisons de supposer que ces utilisateurs étaient situés dans des juridictions soumises à des sanctions.<\/p>

\u00ab\u00a0Au moment des transactions, Bittrex ne passait pas au crible ces informations clients pour des termes associés à des juridictions sanctionnées. Ces informations n’ont pas été divulguées volontairement\u00a0\u00bb, selon la déclaration officielle.<\/p>
