Sa nouvelle société a pour objectif de créer un nouveau système d’exploitation sécurisé beaucoup plus rapide que ceux actuellement utilisés, a déclaré Karpeles à la presse aujourd’hui au club des correspondants étrangers du Japon, selon l’agence Associated Press. Karpeles a également déclaré qu’”il voulait faire du Japon un leader mondial de la blockchain” et estime que la blockchain est utile pour les paiements sans cash, les solutions cloud et les smart contracts<\/a>. Il affirme qu’il ne possède pas de cryptomonnaie pour le moment. \u00ab\u00a0Je ne dirais pas que je suis riche aujourd’hui\u00a0\u00bb, a déclaré Karpeles, ajoutant qu’il recommençait \u00ab\u00a0à zéro\u00a0\u00bb. <\/b><\/p>

C’est une nouvelle intéressante, étant donné que l’ancien PDG de Mt. Gox a été arrêté au Japon en 2015 après que son exchange s’est effondré en 2014. Il a passé onze mois en détention et, bien que les procureurs aient demandé une peine de dix ans d’emprisonnement, Karpeles a été condamné à une peine de deux ans et six mois d’emprisonnement avec sursis, à condition qu’il conserve un bon dossier au cours des quatre prochaines années afin d’éviter une peine d’emprisonnement. Il fait maintenant appel d’une condamnation par un tribunal japonais pour avoir manipulé des données électroniques dont il a été reconnu coupable par le tribunal de district de Tokyo.<\/p>

Pour rappel, l’échange Mt. Gox a été placé en liquidation en avril 2014 après avoir été piraté. Environ 850 000 bitcoins appartenant à des clients et à la société étaient manquants et probablement volés, ce qui représente un montant évalué à plus de 450 millions USD à l’époque. Cependant, quelques semaines plus tard, environ 200 000 bitcoins ont été retrouvées.<\/p>

En août 2018, Nobuaki Kobayashi, administrateur de Mt. Gox, a annoncé que les réclamations étaient ouvertes<\/a> mais strictement pour les personnes victimes du piratage, alors que les créanciers corporatifs devaient attendre.
