Martin Chavez<\/b>, co-responsable mondial de la division des valeurs mobilières du géant de la banque d’investissement Goldman Sachs<\/b>, estime que les cryptomonnaies ont besoin d’être “backées” de façon stable.<\/p>

“Si nous sommes aux États-Unis et que je vous dois de l’argent, je vous donne un billet, vous l’acceptez, et en faisant ça, j’ai éteint la dette et c’est appuyée par la force de la souveraineté. Il ne faut pas oublier ça quand on commence à penser aux monnaies numériques et à la souveraineté” a déclaré Chavez, cité par American Banker.<\/p>

Par ailleurs, M. Chavez a également déclaré “il est facile d’imaginer des monnaies souveraines devenant des actifs numériques”, comme par exemple le dollar américain “s’est déjà dématérialisé” et “a fini par être considérablement abstrait”. Il a également qualifié les cryptomonnaies de “technologie extrêmement intéressante”, rappelant que certaines transactions bancaires traditionnelles pouvaient encore prendre des jours.<\/p>

Le coresponsable de la division des valeurs mobilières a également réitéré les récentes déclarations de David Solomon, PDG de Goldman, selon lesquelles la banque n’avait jamais eu l’intention de créer une plateforme trading crypto.<\/p>

Cependant, en septembre 2018, Chavez, qui avait des bitcoins à l’époque, a déclaré que Goldman Sachs travaillait sur les contrats à terme Bitcoin et certains autres produits dérivés, comme demandé par leurs clients institutionnels. En ce qui concerne le trading physique en bitcoins, Chavez a souligné à l’époque qu’une solution de conservation institutionnelle pour Bitcoin était d’abord nécessaire et qu’il souhaitait qu’il en soit ainsi, mais que la route était encore longue.
