Les problèmes de QuadrigaCX ont commencé quand l’exchange a annoncé que son cofondateur et PDG, Gerald Cotten, était décédé subitement le mois dernier. Après sa mort, la bourse a eu des différends avec diverses banques et aurait eu du mal à trouver une banque disposée à travailler avec elle, même pour traiter les retraits. <\/p>

Selon les documents judiciaires de la Cour suprême de la Colombie-Britannique mis en ligne par Coindesk, Jennifer Robertsen, l’épouse du défunt PDG, est la bénéficiaire effective à hauteur de 43% des actions de la société. Le même document indique également que Gerald Cotten était l’unique dirigeant et administrateur de la société et que celle-ci est actuellement «incapable d’exercer ses fonctions».<\/p>

Le document donne l’impression que l’exchange a été dirigé en mode «one-man show», il est donc facile d’imaginer le genre de problèmes qui se poseraient à sa mort. La même attitude a également été exprimée par les utilisateurs de Reddit, répondant à un long post<\/a> rédigé par l’utilisateur TRANSFERcase qui relate les faits.<\/p>

L’une des dernières mises à jour de la société a été publiée sur Twitter le 11 janvier, expliquant les progrès (ou l’absence de progrès) dans le processus de restitution des fonds aux clients de la bourse. Selon la mise à jour, la société a estimé qu’il faudrait deux semaines pour effectuer les transferts.<\/p><\/oembed>

Aujourd’hui, 17 jours après la publication de la mise à jour, les clients de QuadrigaCX se demandent toujours quand ils récupéreront leur argent. Comme de nombreux experts l’ont souligné, les utilisateurs devraient conserver leurs clés privées de leurs cryptos hors ligne, par exemple dans des portefeuilles matériels tels que Ledger<\/a>, Trezor<\/a>, KeepKey et autres. <\/p>
