Binance Uganda<\/b> a lancé son site le 15 octobre et, dans un communiqué officiel, a annoncé son intention d’accepter les demandes d’ouvertures de compte pour des dépôts en shilling, ainsi qu’en Bitcoin et en Ethereum à compter du 17 octobre. Elle constitue leur première plateforme fiat à crypto. Elle est testée dans un pays qui compte une population de près de 45 millions d’habitants. La plateforme a également lancé des comptes Twitter et Facebook, ainsi qu’un groupe Telegram.<\/p>

Binance, l’un des plus importants exchanges de cryptomonnaies au monde, souhaite établir des opérations en Ouganda depuis le mois d’avril, Changpeng Zhao, le fondateur et PDG de la société avait d’ailleur rencontré plus tôt cette année le président de la République de l’Ouganda, le pro-crypto Yoweri Museveni. Le gouvernement du pays est par ailleurs favorable à l’adoption de la technologie de la blockchain pour améliorer l’efficacité de son secteur public.<\/p>

De son côté, en Zambie, un pays comptant près de 18 millions d’habitants, la banque centrale a publié fin 2004 un communiqué dans lequel elle avertissait que “les cryptomonnaies n’avaient pas valeur légale” dans le pays et que le trading de cryptos n’était pas une activité réglementée qui demeurait donc “aux risques des utilisateurs”. <\/p>

Selon le média Lusaka Times, la banque centrale a depuis fait équipe avec la commission de lutte contre la drogue du pays et s’est attaquée à une société de cryptomonnaie nommée Heritage Coin Resources Limited<\/b> pour blanchiment d’argent. La société se décrit elle-même comme active dans les secteurs du “financement en monnaies numériques et en cryptomonnaies”, mais les autorités de réglementation affirment qu’elle n’est pas autorisée à fournir de tels services financiers. Cette décision pourrait créer un précédent pour un examen plus approfondi des activités cryptos dans le pays.<\/p>

Un responsable de la commission de lutte contre la drogue du pays a déclaré, selon le même média, “[Heritage Coin] propose des services financiers et autorise les dépôts des particuliers”.
