En réponse aux affirmations selon lesquelles la cryptomonnaie Ether (ETH) est vouée à l’échec, à moins que le protocole ne change, Ethereum<\/b>, le co-fondateur Vitalik Buterin est d’accord pour le moment.<\/p>

“Avec Ethereum, tel qu’il existe actuellement, c’est absolument vrai, et en fait, si Ethereum ne change pas, tous les arguments de l’auteur seraient valides”, a écrit Buterin dans un article Reddit.<\/p>

L’entrepreneur en cryptomonnaies Jeremy Rubin avait écrit ces affirmations dans un article sur TechCrunch. Selon lui, Ethereum a des problèmes de mise à l’échelle (scalabilité) et de sécurité de ses contrats intelligents (smart contracts), ce qui entraînera un retard sur ses concurrents, entraînant inévitablement un effondrement par “l’abstraction économique”.<\/p>

L’abstraction économique signifie que le paiement des frais (le gaz) se fera avec un jeton qui n’est pas originaire du réseau Ethereum. Au lieu de payer le gaz en ETH, le propriétaire d’un contrat intelligent paierait avec le jeton de son contrat, probablement un jeton ERC-20. Cela pourrait rendre ETH redondant et diminuer sa valeur par extension.<\/p>

Buterin soutient qu’Ethereum peut survivre s’il est capable d’évoluer et de se développer. Il ajoute que la communauté Ethereum envisage deux options qui pourraient stimuler l’ETH au niveau de son protocole natif. Cela impliquerait que le protocole doive payer le gaz. En faisant ça, cela créerait une structure par laquelle “le point d’équilibre d’ETH dans ce scénario […] est très différente de zéro”, déclare Buterin sur Reddit.<\/p>

Malgré ça, la communauté n’est pas trop inquiète. “N’est-il pas préférable de reconnaître ce qui ne va pas que de vivre dans l’illusion que tout va bien? Il semble assez humble pour reconnaître ce qui ne va pas dans [son] projet’’, déclare l’utilisateur de Reddit u\/Alzerion. D’autres adoptent l’approche humoristique pour commenter sa réponse: “Je comprends certains de ces mots. Hmpm”, écrit u\/danielkoala.<\/p>

Ethereum cherche déjà des moyens de résoudre ses problèmes. La précédente avalanche de tweets <\/a> de Buterin – composée de 75 tweets – explique l’histoire du consensus de la preuve d’enjeu \/ Proof of Stake (PoS) et la feuille de route pour Casper, un nouveau modèle de PoS appelé Ethereum 2.0 et qui est supposé être la réponse aux besoins d’Ethereum en termes de mise à l’échelle. Cependant, Buterin a conclu l’avalanche de tweets en disant qu’il n’existait pas de calendrier officiel pour sa mise en œuvre, ce qui pourrait se traduire par une période d’incertitude prolongée pour Ethereum.<\/p>
