L’Internal Revenue Service (IRS), l’agence du gouvernement fédéral des États-Unis qui collecte l’impôt sur le revenu, a formé le Joint Chiefs of Global Tax Enforcement (J5), un groupe opérationnel visant à enquêter sur les délits liés aux cryptomonnaies comme l’évasion fiscale, la fraude et le blanchiment d’argent. <\/p>

Ce groupe a été formé en réponse à un appel à l’action de l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques (OCDE)<\/b>. Le J5 est constitué de l’IRS, ainsi que d’institutions financières d’Australie, du Canada, des Pays-Bas et du Royaume-Uni. Ces agences mèneront des enquêtes conjointes et partageront les informations obtenues, afin de « réduire la menace croissante que représentent les cryptomonnaies et la cybercriminalité pour les administrations fiscales », a déclaré l’IRS à Business Insider.<\/p>

Forbes rapporte que le chef de la division des enquêtes criminelles de l’IRS, Don Fort, a déclaré: « Nous ne pouvons pas continuer de fonctionner comme avant, en ne communiquant aucun renseignement au reste du monde, tandis que les membres du crime organisé et les fraudeurs fiscaux manipulent le système et en exploitent les failles pour leur gain personnel. Le J5 vise à éliminer les barrières, à tirer profit des pratiques exemplaires de chacun de ses membres et à devenir un groupe opérationnel avant-gardiste capable de faire pression sur les criminels internationaux grâce à des moyens auxquels nous n’aurions pas accès séparément. »<\/p>

La communauté ne semble pas perturbée: la plupart des utilisateurs de Twitter s’accordent à dire que cette initiative vise les grands délits comme la fraude et le financement du terrorisme. Ils ajoutent que tant que leurs impôts sur les gains crypto seront déclarés, monsieur et madame tout le monde n’auront rien à craindre.
