El gigante de pagos en línea PayPal<\/strong> ahora permite a clientes selectos en los EEUU transferir criptoactivos desde sus cuentas a billeteras e intercambios externos.<\/p>

\u00abA partir de hoy, PayPal admite la transferencia nativa de criptomonedas entre PayPal y otras billeteras e intercambios\u00bb, dijo José Fernández da Ponte, vicepresidente sénior y gerente general de blockchain, criptomonedas y monedas digitales en PayPal, en<\/a> un comunicado de prensa, agregando: <\/p>

\u00abEsta función ha sido calificada constantemente por los usuarios como una de las mejoras más solicitadas desde que comenzamos a ofrecer la compra de criptomonedas en nuestra plataforma\u00bb.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>

La plataforma planea expandir la funcionalidad para incluir a todos los clientes estadounidenses elegibles en \u00ablas próximas semanas\u00bb, dijo da Ponte.<\/p>

Para ser más específicos, la nueva función permite a los usuarios transferir criptoactivos admitidos a PayPal, mover criptografía de PayPal a direcciones criptográficas externas, incluidos exchanges y billeteras de hardware, y enviar criptografía a otros usuarios de PayPal en segundos sin tarifas ni cargos de red, dijo la compañía.<\/p>

PayPal ofreció a los usuarios por primera vez la capacidad de comprar, vender y mantener criptomonedas a fines de 2020. Luego, en marzo de 2021, la compañía lanzó Checkout with Crypto, una función que permitía a los clientes pagar con criptoactivos durante el pago en millones de negocios en línea.<\/p>

Desde su primera incursión en criptografía, PayPal ha aumentado considerablemente su impulso criptográfico. La empresa adquirió Curv<\/strong>, una empresa de seguridad de criptomonedas, en marzo del año pasado. Da Ponte también dijo que el Departamento de Servicios Financieros de Nueva York (NYDFS, por sus siglas en inglés) otorgó a PayPal una Bitlicense completa, convirtiéndose en \u00abla primera empresa en convertir una Bitlicense condicional en una Bitlicense completa\u00bb.<\/p>

En particular, el movimiento de PayPal para permitir la transferencia de criptoactivos fuera de su plataforma sigue un movimiento similar de la firma de corretaje rival Robinhood<\/strong>.<\/p>

Durante la conferencia Bitcoin 2022 a principios de abril, Robinhood reveló<\/a> que activó su billetera criptográfica, que hace posible la transferencia de activos digitales, para 2 millones de clientes \u00abelegibles\u00bb. La compañía también dijo que no habrá una tarifa de retiro para quienes transfieran su criptografía fuera de su plataforma.<\/p>
