“Creo firmemente que [tether] está totalmente respaldado, y nunca tendrá problemas para canjearlo”, dijo el cofundador de Tether y CEO de BLOCKv<\/strong>, Reeve Collins.<\/p>

Hablando en una entrevista con CNBC el lunes, Collins dijo que la popular stablecoin tether (USDT) “todavía está respaldada 1:1” por reservas, aunque señaló que este respaldo ya no es solo efectivo en una cuenta bancaria.<\/p>

Collins aseguró además a los espectadores que \u00absi alguna vez hay una crisis de liquidez o 10 mil millones de dólares que están tratando de canjearse\u00bb, tether cumplirá su promesa de canjear.<\/p>

Aún así, Collins admitió que, en teoría, podría surgir un problema si todos los tokens de atadura circulantes se canjean al mismo tiempo, dado que la moneda estable está respaldada por una variedad de instrumentos financieros que podrían demorar en liquidarse.<\/p>

Sin embargo, las posibilidades de que esto suceda alguna vez, en realidad, son escasas, según Collins.<\/p>

Cuando se le preguntó a qué cantidad de las reservas se puede recurrir al mismo tiempo para que Tether pueda canjear tokens, Collins dijo: \u00abNo tengo la respuesta\u00bb, pero agregó que USD 10 mil millones fueron \u00absimplemente solicitados y canjeados instantáneamente sin un problema.\u00bb<\/p>

“Ese es el mejor caso de uso y el mejor testimonio de cuán válido es ese activo”, agregó.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>

Más adelante en la entrevista, Collins llamó a las monedas estables algorítmicas, como el ahora fallido terraUSD (UST), \u00abexperimentos\u00bb que pueden o no funcionar. “En este caso, no funcionó”, dijo, calificándolo de “tragedia” para quienes lo usaron.<\/p>

Cuando se le preguntó por qué USDT cotizaba tan bajo como 95 centavos después del colapso de UST, Collins dijo que ese era solo el caso \u00aben intercambios de terceros\u00bb porque esos mercados se basan en la oferta y la demanda.<\/p>

“Sin embargo, el objetivo de tether es que si quieres canjearlo por 1 dólar, siempre puedes canjearlo por 1 dólar en tether.io […] tether nunca ha perdido su estabilidad, siempre puedes canjearlo por un dólar”, dijo Collins.<\/p>
