الثروة تولد الثروة. لقد أضاف هذا المفهوم البسيط إلى الاستياء المتزايد من عدم المساواة الذي تصاعد في ظل جائحة كورونا.<\/p>

تؤكد ورقة شارك في تأليفها هذا العام خبراء اقتصاديون من صندوق النقد الدولي ومؤسسات أخرى أن الأشخاص الأكثر ثراءً من المرجح أن يكسبوا عوائد أعلى على استثماراتهم. كما يُظهر أن أبناء الأثرياء، في حين أنهم من المحتمل أن يرثوا تلك الثروة، لن يحققوا بالضرورة نفس العوائد المرتفعة على الاستثمارات.<\/p>

البيانات التفصيلية عن الثروة نادرة للغاية، لكن 12 عامًا من سجلات الضرائب (2004-2015) من النرويج فتحت نافذة جديدة على تراكم الثروة للأفراد وذريتهم. يوجد في دول الشمال ضريبة ثروة تتطلب الإبلاغ عن الأصول من قبل أصحاب العمل والبنوك والأطراف الثالثة الأخرى من أجل تقليل الأخطاء من الإبلاغ الذاتي. تتيح البيانات، التي يتم نشرها للجمهور في ظل ظروف معينة، إمكانية مطابقة الآباء مع أطفالهم.<\/p>

تشير البيانات إلى أن الفرد في النسبة المئوية الخامسة والسبعين لتوزيع الثروة الذي استثمر دولارًا واحدًا في عام 2004 كان سيحقق 1.50 دولارًا أمريكيًا بحلول نهاية عام 2015 – أي عائد بنسبة 50٪. أي شخص في أعلى 0.1٪ كان سيحقق 2.40 دولارًا أمريكيًا على نفس الدولار المستثمر – عائد 140٪.<\/p>
